NEWS & EVENTS

 

04/04/2009- First Chicken Bar-B-Que of the season was a good success.

Lots of Chicken sold. Next Bar-B-Que is scheduled for

May 2nd. at the Fire Station. Please come out and support our

Department.

03/20/2009- Boonsboro Fire Company receives grant through the AFG funding,

to purchase Turn-out gear, and gear washer & dryer for operations

and safety. This is much needed to be able to provide our

Emergency Responders with the best possible protection in

responding to calls.

 

03/18/2009- Co. 6 alerted for the Brush Fire in the 9100 Block of Mapleville RD.

Units on the scene with approximately 2 acres burning, from an open

burn that extended into the woodland. 2 additional Engine companies

requested to assist. Fire was contained and extinguished in about

30 minutes. Funkstown, and Mt. Aetna companies assisted.

 

03/14/2009- Engine Company from Station 8 dispatched on the

Task Force alarm at 9 West I Street in Brunswick for the House Fire.

Unit reported to staging, and released after that per Command

Officer.

 

03/11/2009- Co. 6 units assisted Williamsport Co. 2 with a woods fire

on Spielman Rd. B6 operated in the North Division, while

E63 operated in the water shuttle operation. Both units cleared

about two hours later.

 

 

03/11/2009- Units alerted to 4103A Trego Rd. for the structure fire.

Chief 6 arrived on scene with smoke from side C. E13 layed 4 inch

supply line and pulled an 1 3/4 attack to find dryer on fire in a room.

E63 supplied water to E13, Truck 6 crew started ventilation, securing the

power, checking for fire extension and overhaul.  Units cleared

within the hour.

 

03/07/2009- E63 and Truck 6 alerted to the Shed Fire in Co. 10's

Funkstown District. E63 used in th/e Water supply operation. Truck /6

and crew went to work on ventilation, salvage and overhaul

operations. Both units operated for little over an Hour,

before being released by Command.

 

03/07/2009- Co. 6 units alerted for a Brush Fire on Mountain Laurel RD.

Chief 6 on the scene with a trash pile and 1/4 acre of brush burning.

Frederick County Station 8, and Boonsboro Sub-Station 8 units

assisted with the extinguishment of the fire. Caused by

Homeowner burning trash in a pile and extended beyond the

controlled burn area. Units operated for 45 minutes.

 

03/03/2009- Box 8-5 was alerted for a House Fire at 19821 Brownsville RD.

Chief 6 arrived on scene with a House Trailer with Exposure Buildings

fully involved. Command established, and the working fire assignment

requested. FM 26 investigated the fire. Crews remained

on the scene for about 3 hours.

 

03/02/2009- Busy Morning for the crew. 2 vehicle accidents back to back,

from early morning snowfall and slick road conditions. Both accidents

minor injuries. 1 accident on Nicodemus Mill Rd., the other

on Mill Point Rd.

 

02/28/2009- RE61 and E63 alerted for the House Fire at 7812 Sharpsburg Pike

in Fairplay Co. 12's District. Units on scene with a working fire. Working

fire assignment dispatched. E63 worked with RS69 crew as the RIT.

Units returned to service in about 30 minutes.

 

 

02/25/2009- Rescue Engine 61 along with Co. 69 Dispatched

for the Motor Vehicle Accident in the area of

19100 Lappans Rd. 2 vehicle accident with minor injuries.

EMS unit from Co. 69 transported to WCH.

 

 

 

 

02/23/2009- Truck 6 and Engine 6-3 were dispatched to 1716 Harpers Ferry Road for reported Chimney Fire. Truck 6 arrived and positioned on Side B and laddered the roof. Crews split into 2 groups sending manpower to the roof and interior operations. Crews ran chains and assisted as needed. Company 6 cleared with 7 personnel.

 

 

02/22/2009- Units alerted to 21130 Roy's Lane for the field Fire.

Chief 6 on the scene with DNR to find 8 acres of wildland and

mountain area burning. Units from Co. 6, 8, 1, 12, 16, 69, 20,

Along with Frederick County Co. 7, 8, and rehab 255

operated on the scene for a little over 2 hours to contain

and extinguish the fire.

 

 

02/18/2009- Co. 6 & 8 units dispatched for the Box Alarm in Sharpsburg's

District, for smoke in the Church. Initial units on scene found

a malfunctioning furnace. Truck 6 used for ventilation.

Remainder of the Box placed in service.

 

 

02/12/2009- Co. 6 & 8 units alerted for the Structure Fire in

Potomac Valley Co. 11 Districts. Units on scene with a well

involved house trailer fire. Units operated on the scene for

over two hours.

 

 

02/09/2009- Co. 6 & 8 units responded on the House Fire at

713 Hoffmaster Rd. in Potomac Valley Co. 11 District.

Units operated on the scene for over three hours.

 

 

 

 

002/09/2009- Co. 6 units alerted for the Box Alarm in Station 10's

District for the Barn on Fire. Second Working incident of the night.

Crews on scene with a building well involved. RE61 established

a draft site for water supply operations. Truck 6 crew used for

lighting and overhaul. Crews remained on the scene for

about three hours.

 

 

02/02/2009- Busy afternoon  for the day crew handling calls.

2 vehicle accidents, mulch fire, and an EMS assist, within

a three hour time frame.

01/31/2009- First Hose Company of Boonsboro holds its annual

banquet at Cochran's Auction Theater. New Officer's sworn in by

Sheriff Doug Mullendore. Dinner, program, and

DJ music till 1:00 AM. Thanks to all who

attended, and for the standby crews who covered for handling

calls.

 

01/28/2009- RE61 & E63 dispatched for the House on Fire on Woburn Rd.

in Fairplay Co.12's District. Units on scene with a working incident.

RE61 established draft site for Tanker shuttle. E63 used in water

shuttle operations. Crews remained on the scene for almost 3 hours.

 

 

1/19/2009- Rescue Engine 61 and Utility 6 responded to assist on the

multi-car mass casualty incident on WB 70 @ 37 MM. Crews

assisted with patient care, triaging, and other rescue operations.

             Crew remained on the scene for @ 2 1/2 hours.1/19/2009-

 

 

1/10/2009- Box 8-5 was alerted for a vehicle on fire next to the House.

Truck 6 responded on the call. A/C 8 & E81 arrived on the scene

with a vehicle well involved not endangering the structure.

A/C 8 held Co. 8 units only. Remaining units cleared from

the box alarm.

 

01/09/2009- E63, Truck 6 alerted for the House Fire 13021 Wolfsville Rd

in Frederick County Station 21's District. Room and contents fire.

Truck 6 utilized for checking fire extension, salvage and overhaul

operations. Crew remained on scene for 1 1/2 hours.

 

 

12/30/2008- RE61, E63, B6 responded on the Tanker Task Force

for the House Fire at 8241 Reichard Rd. in Fairplay District. House was

well involved upon initial units arrival, Command established. Units

operated for about an hour, before being released.

 

 

12/18/2008- RE61 with Deputy Chief Sherwood and Technician Eckstine visited Greenbrier

Elementary School for the Second Grade class, giving Fire Safety talk to

students. The kids listened to D/C Sherwood talk about home safety, and

got to look at the Rescue Engine and its equipment.

 

12/09/2008- Co. 6 units along with Co. 1, 8, 12, 69, Jefferson

County 3, and Frederick County Co. 7 alerted for the House

Fire at 19821 Shepherdstown Pike. Units on the scene with

a wood pile on fire outside of the house, with minor extension

to the siding. Command established, and assignment downgraded.

Units operated for approximately 45 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

12/08/2008- Co. 6 units assisted Frederick County Station 7

on the Building Fire with a burn injury at the South Mountain

Creamery, 8035 Bolivar Road. Minor fire from welding on a

tank. Chief 7 held Co. 7 units. RE61, E63, and Truck 6

responded on the call.

 

 

11/27/2008- 6573 Gilardi Road Co. 6, 8, 1, 12, 69, Frederick Co.'s 7,8

and Jefferson County Truck 3 dispatched for a reported House Fire.

Chief 6 arrived on the scene, nothing evident establishing Command

Crew from RE61 found a stove fire out on arrival, moderate

smoke conditions in the house. No extension. Minor overhaul

and smoke removal conducted. Units cleared shortly after.

 

 

11/05/2008- 21510 Boonsboro Mountain Road. RE61, Truck 6,

and Chief 6 responded for the reported oven fire. Units arrived

on scene with fire out, smoke conditions in the house only.

Ventilation conducted, units returned to service.

Co. 16 (Mt. Aetna) also responded on the call.

 

 

11/01/2008- Truck 6 alerted on the third alarm building fire

in Frederick County Sta. 22 (Lewistown) District. Unit

was placed in service, and transferred to Sta. 4  in

the City of Frederick.

 

 

10/31/2008- Co. 6 units alerted for the House Fire 2224 Old National Pike

in Frederick County Station 7's District. Units on scene and operated with a

room and contents fire in a second floor bedroom. Units

responded E63, Truck 6, Chief 6, and Utility 6.

 

 

 

10/15/2008- E63 & Truck 6 alerted to the Barn Fire in Frederick County

Station 21's District. Barn Well involved. Units operated and assisted with water

shuttle operations.
